Statement - Stephanie Woods

I am interested in your Fine Art programme because I feel I will be able to excell myself in the field of visual expression. The Artists that inspire me, such as Andy Goldsworthy and Jennifer Collier, help me to think of new and exciting ways to channel ideas. Their modern styles and original concepts are the foundations of my own artistic skills and techniques. I would love to be given the opportunity to work with and learn from other talented artists, to develop my own style and to become the best I can possibly be. Making a career out of being creative is my ultimate ambition. It would be fantastic for me to be given the chance to create something that I am so passionate about, knowing that I would be working in an environment where I would be able to develop my skills and knowledge of materials to help bring some of my more ambitious ideas into fruition. Art helps me to express myself and I feel I would be a useful contribution to your Art and Design Department because I love experimenting with different media, textures and colour plays a big part in my life. I hope that I can be considered to your course and I hope to hear from you in the future.

Media Project - Music Magazine. Front cover, contents page and inside double spread

These 3 magazine pages I created in my AS year for a project in my Media Subject. With this project I used the Photoshop Program. I now feel comfortable with this programme and will be able to use this if I choose to work with computers again. Photography was also a big part of this course as well as editing and using different tools for photos and images.

Journeys Photography

These are just a small collection of photos I took for my A2 project Journeys. They were all taken in different parts of Europe during my summer holidays. They add a primary source to my project and fit in well with my coursework pages.

Coursework Development A2

These images are taken from my A2 coursework skecthbook 'Journeys'. They show different kinds of samples and experimenting. I have also included notes and some artist research. At the moment this project is ongoing and still isn't finished but I am hoping to have it finished within the next 2 months ready to start my exam project. I have enjoyed researching into my theme 'Journeys' because it was a personal choice. I have linked Journeys with physical as well as emotional and family journeys. For my final outcome I am hoping to link my final piece with my own emotional journey through life. My piece will include a wall hanging made from wax entrapments and hand made paper, paper transfers, acrylic on canvas and objects that I have collected through my journeys. I am hoping to create a 'childs bedroom' so that the piece can be reflected on my own life.

Exam Piece 'Rhythms and Cycles' Final Outcome

This was my final outcome for my Exam piece. I tried to capture and paint the way hair moves. Movement is a basic rhythm and cycle. I crated this piece by using glue and tissue paper for the background and base of this piece, then I added the strands of hair on with acrylic paint. Overall I think this is a nice piece and I like that on first glance you wouldn't know it was hair because it has been zoomed in to show full movement.

This image was taken from my Exam sketchbook and links well with my final piece.

Final Outcome Coursework AS

This is my final outcome for my AS coursework project. I created the piece using acyrlic paint on paper. The middle image is an observation from an orange and the pieces alongside have been painted from prints I made with orange segments.
